Laura Garrett Owner / Head Cheer Coach - USASF Credentialed Level 1-5
Laura began her journey at the young age of 2, originally as a gymnast up until the age of 16. She then transitioned into coaching gymnastics where Laura realised her true passion was coaching. It was a few years later when she was introduced to cheerleading that she immediately fell in love with the sport and realised her calling. In 2012, she combined her two passions, coaching and cheerleading, to open up Shire Elite Cheerleading. Over the past 5 years, Laura has successfully coached her teams to multiple National and Grand Champion Titles. Laura has been recognised for her great talents as a coach and choreographer, being nominated for the AASCF Coach of the Year, as well as the AASCF Choreographer of the Year in both 2015 and 2016. In 2018, Laura will be head coaching our Open Level 5 team "Royals", as well as overseeing all competition teams at Shire Elite.
Mitchell Lennon Owner / Head Tumble Coach / Cheer Coach - USASF Credentialed Level 1-3
Mitchell began his love for sport at the age of 8 when he began playing football for his local football club. Over the next 10 years, Mitchell excelled in the sport often playing up multiple age divisions, playing in representative teams, being placed in multiple captain positions and receiving numerous awards and scholarships. Right from a young age, Mitchell showed amazing dedication and leadership skills well beyond his years. So how did this footballer convert to cheerleading? Laura was looking for some boys to join the team and Mitchell agreed to come down (with a mate) and have a go. Immediately he loved it. He was amazed at how much skill and strength was required and loved that it pushed himself as an athlete to a whole new level. He also loved the fact that it was a true co-ed sport, where both male and female athletes compete together on the same team, very unlike football. Since then Mitchell has won a National Partner Stunt title, multiple National Cheer titles and multiple National Grand Champion Titles as an athlete. This year Mitchell will be coaching our Senior Level 3 Team "Supremacy", coaching most Tumble Classes and Tumble Private Lessons as well as competing himself on our Open Level 5 Team "Royals".
